EngageCX 11.5 (Mantine) Release Notes
Summary
The 11.5 release brings a complete overhaul of the user interface that streamlines users' interactions and reduces the learning curve. The core functionality of the EngageCX Platform is now distributed between the following modules:
- Contacts: Integration with your CRM and a 360-degree view of your interactions with a customer.
- Projects: Design communication projects that deliver documents, emails & SMS messages to your target audience.
- Communications: View all documents generated by your organization, associated emails and SMS notifications, as well as interactions (clicks, reads, etc.)
- Journeys: Define customer journeys and automate communications as the customers go through their journeys.
Note
After you upgrade the EngageCX solutions to the Mantine release, the old licenses will be no longer available. To upgrade your licenses, please contact us, at engagecxsupport@mhcautomation.com.
New Features
We are pleased to share with you several enhancements presented in the EngageCX solution 11.5. In this section, we've put together a list with all the new features and improvements which can be discovered in this release.
User Interface
A new sidebar on most screens allows quick access to useful functionalities like filtering a list of communications based on workspace or folder, viewing the list of dependencies with new RTL language improvements, and new types of fields.

The 11.5 release brings the sidebar in the following modules: Contacts, Lists, Communications, Journeys, Projects, Analytics, Tasks and Administrator Settings.
Communications
The Design functionality has been consolidated in a new Projects module. Projects allow you to track templates, forms, data models, images, stylesheets and other assets as well as their dependencies. It is the place where you can bring together and design common assets by unified them into a communication entity.
How to access it?
- Log in to the Enterprise Website;
- Select the
Projectsbutton within the Modules Menu.

Multiple projects can now be published simultaneously from one environment to another (for example, Development to Production).
How to access it?
- Within Projects, click the button in the toolbar, then select the
Publishoption. - Next, follow the Publish wizard to successfully publish your project(s) to another environment. During the wizard, you will have to choose the project(s) you want to publish, provide the destination address and credentials to access that location.

Online editing of forms has been improved with a UI facelift, support for drag & drop, date/time and multiple selection drop-down lists. In addition, we have added multiple language-related improvements for forms, such as RTL language support, translations improvements, the ability to detect language from the browser, and much more.
How to access it?
- Within Projects, access the project you want to edit, then open the form file (the .efd file format).
- Next, select the
Editbutton from the toolbar. The form editor will open and will provide you with multiple component accessibility that you can drag and drop into your form.

Online editing of communication workflows also benefits from a new UI that simplifies editing and makes it easier to navigate workflows with complex branching.
How to access it?
- Within Projects, access the project you want to edit, then open the workflow file (the .wk4 file format).
- Next, select the
Editbutton from the toolbar. The workflow editor will open and will provide you with multiple tasks and properties for Workflow's designs.

The Communications module has been redesigned with an emphasis on filtering and sorting your outbound communications. You also get at-a-glance visibility of omnichannel distribution status (clicks, bounces, opens, reads, etc.), view triggered and scheduled projects, and more.
How to access it?
- Log in to the Enterprise Website;
- Select the
Communicationsbutton within the Modules Menu.

The output of a communication provides now a summary with links to the Documents, Emails, SMS produced as well as the Forms submissions that occurred as part of that communication.
How to access it?
- Within Communications, click the
+New Communicationbutton in the toolbar and follow the on-screen instructions to run a new project. Or simply select an existing communication from the list. - The Communication Summary will open on a new page.
Note that the Summary page is different based on your project type and project configurations. To learn more about that, please access the Project Properties section of the User Guide.

Customer Journeys
Powerful improvements have been brought to the Journeys\Touchpoints editing. The EngageCX solution can now visually display which customers are enrolled in any touchpoint as they go through. Additionally, contacts can now be enrolled in Episodes, which are short-term journeys designed for automating engagement for limited time-frames (for example, handling invitations to a webinar, sending out communications followed up by reminders, and much more). Both static and dynamic contact lists can be used.
How to access it?
- Log in to the Enterprise Website;
- Select the
Journeysbutton within the Modules Menu. Once the page is opened, expand the Sidebar and select fromJourneysandEpisodes.

Website visitors can now be tracked, and the web navigation activity is visible in Customer Activity, providing more context for customer interactions (such as form submissions, become a lead) in a timely fashion. Geographical and device profile properties are automatically inferred (city, state, country, device, browser, OS platform).
How to access it?
- Log in to the Enterprise Website;
- Select the
Adminbutton within the Modules Menu. Once the page is opened, expand the Sidebar and select theDomainstab. - Select the
+New Trackerbutton from the toolbar and add the domain of the website you want to track. - To view all the website visitors, select the
Sysinternalstab from the Sidebar and click on theVisitorshyperlink.

CRM synchronization changes now show up in Customer Activity.
How to access it?
- Log in to the Enterprise Website;
- Select the
Adminbutton within the Modules Menu. Once the page is opened, expand the Sidebar and select theIntegrationstab. - Select the
+New Integration\CRM Synchronizationbutton from the toolbar and fill out the form with your CRM Details. Note that your System Administrator must set up a connection first from Sysinternals\Connections. To learn more about CRM Connections, please visit the Integrations section of the User Guide. - To view your contacts activity, access
Contactsfrom the Modules menu, select the needed contact from the list and inspect its activity in the the right-side panel.

Starting with the Patch 3 version, you can keep track of your customer's emails. The EngageCX Platform provides now a list where you can look through all the email addresses named by Amazon SES as hard bounces. Additionally, contacts of those whose emails were not delivered will be marked with a yellow triangle next to their email address.
How to access it?
- Log in to the Enterprise Website;
- Select the
Adminbutton within the Modules Menu and go to theSysinternalstab. Once the page is opened, click on theEmail Bounces List.

Online Template Editor
The template editor has a new user-friendly interface, allowing you to swiftly drag and drop your components into the design surface. Editing styles and properties has been improved and consolidated in a single panel displayed on the left side of the screen.
How to access it?
- Within Projects, access the project you want to edit, then open the template file (the .epr file format).
- Next, select the down arrow and click on the
Edit Onlinebutton from the toolbar. The template editor will open and will provide you access to multiple components and options useful to design your document templates.

Email templates can be edited in both the traditional online template editor and a new specialized editor that simplifies many aspects of responsive layouts, such as options to hide or stack sections on mobile phones.
How to access it?
- Within Projects, access the project you want to edit, then open the email template file (the .ehtml file format).
- Next, select the
Editbutton from the toolbar. The email editor will open and will provide access to various components.

System Administrator
To enhance security in the EngageCX domain, in this release system administrators will be enforced to change the default password on the first log-in.
How to access it?
- Sign-in to the Sysadmin Website using the default credentials.
- A pop-up will appear enforcing you to create a new password for EngageCX Domain.

Promotions
Everyone loves promotions. First Patch of this release brings a renewed Promotions module that allows you to design dynamic discounts within your documents, driving in this way your relationship with your customers.
How to access it?
- Log in to the Enterprise Website;
- Select the
Promotionsbutton within the Modules Menu.

EngageCX Studio
The user experience is boosting in the EngageCX Studio tools as well. The new release brings a friendly interface for German users, by providing the ability to change the default display language.
How to access it?
- Open the EngageCX Publisher tool.
- Go to File > Options > General >Display Language and select
Germanfrom the drop down list. A restart of the Publisher tool is required in order to apply the changes.

Lists are practical when it comes to organizing your document templates. The new release enhances the Publisher tool with the cross-reference feature attainable for lists. You can now inform your customers and connect template sections to numbered list items presented either in the current file or on another template. Additionally, if updates are performed on those files, the links will be updated automatically.
How to access it?
- Open the EngageCX Publisher tool.
- Go to Insert > Reference and select the
Cross Referencebutton. To learn more information on how to configure it, please access the Cross Reference section of the Publisher Guide.

Users now have the ability to convert text and paragraphs to repeating or conditional text\paragraphs directly through the right-click contextual menu. Simply select and right-click on a text/paragraph in the Design View, point out to a repeating or conditional context from your data source tree, and your text\paragraph will be converted as needed. Please visit the Repeating Content and Conditional Content sections for more information.

Refinements have been put on to the Export/Preview features of the EngageCX Studio products. These are now performed asynchronously and allow you to continue your work on large document templates while the preview/export is loading.

Performance Improvements
Lastly, as with every release, we have continued to improve the performance and reliability of core components. Loading Projects by folder is faster in Sidebar, starting with the Patch 1 version. Additionally, contacts searching within the New Communications dialog is performed quicker now, even if numerous contacts are available.

Bugs Fixed
Release: 11.5 Released On: August 2018
Function: Setup
Summary: When you run the EngageCX setup it fails to install due to the lack of permissions and the following error appears: Logon failure: the user has not been granted the requested logon type at this computer.
Solution: The issue has been resolved in this release. Now, the EngageCX Service (EOS4Svc) starts automatically when the setup is running and the website host names are now independent.
Function: Setup
Summary: Even if the setup finishes with success, upgrading EngageCX from an older version to a newer version leads to nonfunctional EngageCX Platform.
Solution: The issue has been resolved in this release. Now, you can successfully upgrade your EngageCX Platform to the newer version. We highly recommend contacting our EngageCX Technical Team before pursuing with an EngageCX upgrade to discuss the best solution for your organization.
Function: Environments
Summary: If you login as a domain user to the Enterprise Website, the environment drop-down is not displayed.
Status: The issue has been fixed in this release. Domain users are allowed to easily switch between the environments by using the drop-down menu from the toolbar.

Function: Environments
Summary: When creating a new user with the same email address of another environment user, username and password fields are editable and can cause issues with reset password option.
Solution: The issue has been fixed in this release. The username and password fields are not editable when inviting a new user from another environment into the current one.

Function: Communications
Summary: If you upload an external .CSV file to a form while running a communication, it will duplicate the data in the template preview.
Status: The issue has been fixed in this release. External files added to the forms before submitting communication will not cause any discrepancies in the template preview.
Function: Communications
Summary: Previously, interactive forms do not show up data on the template preview.
Status: The issue has been fixed in this release. While running a communication, if you populate form fields, the data will be automatically displayed in the template preview.

Function: Projects
Summary: In the Project assets area, both contextual menus, the one from the toolbar and the one corresponding to an asset, can be opened simultaneously.
Solution: The issue has been fixed in this release. Once you open a contextual menu within a project folder, you will not be able to open another one until the first selected is automatically closed.
Function: Workflows
Summary: Previously, for workflows containing a group step, either the Page Count parameter was checked or unchecked, the data was grouped after rendering.
Status: The issue has been fixed in this release. After rendering, your data will not be grouped when the Page Count parameter is not checked.
Function: Workflows
Summary: Editing manual steps in workflows created on previous EngageCX branches was not possible as the Properties sidebar has not been displayed for these steps.
Solution: The issue has been fixed in this release. You can now upload workflows created in an older EngageCX version, open the editor and edit manual steps using the properties sidebar.
Function: Workflows
Summary: When pressing the Dynamic Value - f(x) button to add a parameter for a workflow step, you are not allowed to select OK, if the parameter was previously deleted and then replaced.
Solution: The issue has been fixed in this release. Now, there is a triggered input on the parameter, so that it can see the changes and validate accordingly, the operation being able to finish successfully.
Function: Workflows
Summary: When running a workflow for a Review and Approval task type, both approved and rejected branches are executed.
Solution: The issue has been fixed in this release. The workflow runs the job, following only one branch: Approved or Rejected.
Function: Forms
Summary: Running a Communication with a form that contains a subform will make the EngageCX Platform to infinitely load when generating outputs.
Solution: The issue has been fixed in this release. In the Form Editor, the subform can now be introduced without causing an infinite loop when running.
Function: Forms
Summary: When selecting the Save Test Data button from the toolbar, the data of the required fields is also saved.
Solution: The issue has been fixed in this release. The Save test data option from Form Editor will not save the data retrieved from the form containing elements with required option checked.
Function: Forms
Summary: Saving style configurations from the Sidebar does not keep the values after a refresh of the page.
Solution: The issue has been fixed in this release. A refresh in page or a reopening of the form will not cause any errors in last style updates.
Function: Jobs
Summary: When running a job with a Render step and then selecting it for more details, the File Mode views (grid/list) are not available.
Solution: The issue has been fixed in this release. Now, the File Mode views are visible in Jobs with Render steps within.

Function: Tasks
Summary: The Task Types page do not provide a corresponding contextual menu (three vertical dots) and a hand arrow when hovering the mouse over a task.
Solution: The issue has been fixed in this release. The old collection is replaced by a new one, and a new grid is added to task types to return a grid model. Now, when accessing Task Types from the Sysinternals Settings the contextual menu appears together with the hand arrow on the mouse hovering.

Function: Communications
Summary: XML field is not showing data in the output when an Interactive Communication uses an XML element within a data source.
Solution: The issue has been fixed in this release. Filling out a form with the required fields will show in the output, after running the communication, all previously completed data.
Function: Modeler
Summary: Modeler tool does not accept .efd files that contain comments within. If the comments are removed, the file can be imported.
Solution: The issue has been fixed in this release. The importing function within the Modeler tool will have no restrictions regarding .efd files.
Function: Forms
Summary: If you add a Richtext element to the Form Editor, this does not work in the template, because the Online Editor does not set is-html = "true" and the new field never gets mapped over.
Solution: The issue has been fixed in this release. The richtext field is connected to the output as a subtree and the subtree element will be inserted in the template with the is-html parameter set automatically to true.
Function: Forms
Summary: The fields inserted within a Group element in Form Editor do not visually appear as being inside the group.
Solution: The issue has been fixed in this release. The items within a Group element appear as children of that Group.

Function: Forms
Summary: If you create a form page containing only a text field with a default text it is visible and read-only, but when testing the form the text is not displayed. The same happens also when you have a page containing a label.
Solution: The issue has been fixed in this release. Read-only fields do not create data loss when saving the data in a Form page.
Function: Modeler
Summary: If mapping a CSV file to an XML, if the value coercion for strings is enabled and the given value is null, then the attribute never gets created.
Solution: The issue has been fixed in this release. To write empty attributes in XML Output, the value that connects to the XML attribute will be an empty string (not null).
Function: Workflows
Summary: Using wildcards in the GetData step within a workflow is not working and it is throwing an error ("..*.csv contains special characters").
Solution: The issue has been fixed in this release. Now, the wildcard parameter is replaced and the error is not displayed anymore.
Function: Forms
Summary: The Settings Menu from the Sidebar in Form Editor does not work properly. If some configurations are made within Settings Pane, the data is neither applied nor saved.
Solution: The issue has been fixed in this release. Now, the Form Settings configurations are applied and saved accordingly in the Form Editor.
Function: Search
Summary: An administrator gives permission for a non-admin user for read files and read folders. When searching for those files and folders, no results are displayed.
Solution: The issue has been fixed in this release. The user's permissions are added to the Access Control List regarding the management of workspace or environment rights containing the folder/file. The file/folder will be displayed in the search results.
Function: Communications
Summary: When attempting to run Test communications, the user is prompted to select a run parameter (i.e. ContactId).
Solution: The issue has been fixed in this release. Communications can be run in testing mode without requiring a parameter.
Function: Communications
Summary: After you run/test a communication base on a standard letter template, all contact fields are automatically placed in an unnamed Group field.
Solution: The issue has been fixed in this release. Standard letter templates do not feature a group. All the fields within the template are moved out of the group and it will be deleted.
Function: Communications
Summary: When creating a new communication project, there are no results to be shown on the second page of the Choose Destination Folder dialog. All the results can be seen if the results/page number is increased. Otherwise, the results cannot be displayed on subsequent pages.
Solution: The issue has been fixed in this release. When selecting the Items per Page parameter from the Choose Destination Folder dialog, the results will be automatically displayed accordingly.
Function: Forms
Summary: Color setting is not working properly if any changes occur on the Label or Caption fields within Form Editor.
Solution: The issue has been fixed in this release. If the Label or Caption color settings are changed, the updates will affect the fields automatically.
Function: Setup
Summary: During installation process, there are no errors displayed, even though the database is not present anymore.
Solution: The issue has been fixed in this release. A checking step is added to the database connection string when using the Previous Configuration option in the setup wizard.
Function: Templates
Summary: When the paragraph element is in editing mode within Template Editor, its associated style changes to None.
Solution: The issue has been fixed in this release. After some configurations are made in Styles Pane on paragraphs, the updates will remain intact.
Function: Workflows
Summary: An overlay step is used within a workflow. When running the workflow associated with a template that contains template parameters, these are not set.
Solution: The issue has been fixed in this release. Template parameters are not available for overlay steps within the workflow, because these steps are static ones and cannot be edited.
