Recommended Processor Guidance
The Intel® Core™ Ultra 5 and Ultra 7 families represent the ideal processors for the current environment, offering the best balance of single-core responsiveness and multi-core scalability for demanding workloads. Organizations should also note that prior-generation Intel® Core™ i7 processors with higher core counts continue to deliver strong performance and remain a reliable option for resource-intensive applications.
-
Single-core performance: Similar architecture, but Ultra 7 sustains higher turbo frequencies. Expect a ~5–10% edge in CPU-bound tasks (Data crunching, FO template rendering).
-
Multi-core performance: Bigger jump. Ultra 7 usually has 20–30% more throughput thanks to extra cores/threads. This matters when you’re rendering large XML-FO previews, exporting to PDF/HTML, or running multiple apps at once.
If your workload is mostly smaller templates and general Office work, Ultra 5 is sufficient. But for big template design sessions (20 or more pages) + multitasking (Studio, Excel, Teams, browser tabs), Ultra 7 will feel noticeably smoother.
